With approximately 108 knots per square centimetre the total knot count for this fine rug is in excess of 3,000,000 knots.

Condition

Overall measurements; 136cm across the top, 137cm across the bottom, 204cm the left hand side, 203cm the right hand side. In very good condition. Pile an even closely sheared 3mm, near original depth. Unusual multi-coloured silk fringing, some minor losses to fringe tails at lower end. Flatwoven end finishes at upper end. No losses to silk pile. Original sidecords. A very unusual and finely woven Mashad silk rug in near mint condition.

Mashad weaves are usually wool pile, occasionally with silk highlights; it is exceptionally rare to find an example exclusively in silk.
