Two linoleum cuts printed in colors, 1959, Baer's I and II (of II), each stamped with artist's signature, state I a unique recorded proof in chocolate and caramel on heavy wove paper inscribed in pencil Premier Etat-[Unique] and dated '17.9.59' by the printer, state II inscribed in pencil épreuve d'essai [1/2], a trial proof aside from the numbered edition of 50, on Arches wove paper, printed by Arnéra, Vallauris (2 prints)

Condition

THE FIRST a working proof in generally good condition, the full sheet. The sheet is slightly discolored, the margins with a few faint scattered fox marks, traces of stray ink, and some surface soiling. A seven inch vertical crease along lower right sheet edge. Upper and lower left corners slightly soft with associated creasing. Handling creases throughout the sheet visible under raking light. Four stray spots of black ink in the image at lower right quadrant. The verso in good condition with a few minuscule fox marks and traces of stray ink.THE SECOND in good condition, the full sheet. Faint time-stain at upper sheet edge. The verso in generally good condition with an area of uneven discoloration. Scattered faint fox marks and two small circular stains at left and upper center.
