The book, 1947-8, comprising 31 out of 41 etchings with aquatint (lacking 5 etched heads and 5 corresponding poems), with text in French (lacking the third title and poem), with title page and justification, this copy numbered 194 from the edition of 250, printed by Fequet et Baudier and Roger Lacourière, Paris, on Marais wove paper, loose (as issued) in greenish Auvergne wrappers with red lettering, with olive green imitation cloth-covered protective boards and slipcase
Condition
76 full sheets (each with a deckle edge on three sides), in good condition apart from some minor discoloration, the occasional stray fox mark, minor handling creases, a 10mm tear to right edge of achevé d'imprimer, the slipcase with signs of wear, discoloration and scuffing, the paper loose at top and bottom edges.
10 pages missing, made up of five folded sheets with one etching and one etched poem.
one double page of French title and French text missing.
