This unique object is in generally excellent condition. As is common with Peter Beard's photographs as a result of his working process, there are tiny creases and tears, faint surface scratches, soiling in the margins, and occasional fingerprints. None of these detract from the overall fine appearance of this large print. The artist's hand-print appears in the left margin in blue and purple inks and extends into the image at the lower left corner. There are several deposits of dark brown ink scattered in the margin and across the lower half of the image. The model's clothing has been hand-tinted ocher. The photograph is annotated in blue ink in the margin: 'Darajani Nr. Mtitomdei Kenya' and 'Rhino roping 1964 – for release in "Starvo" Park Hunting block to Wasteland by the gardeners of Eden for The End of the Game / Last Word from Paradise Peter Beard Hog Ranch Box 4191 Nairobi Kenya.' This photograph is accompanied by the original frame backing with The Time is Always Now, New York, label on the reverse.
