The thick panel is flat and stable. It has two horizontal support batons adhered to the reverse. The paint surface is stable with a discoloured and patchy varnish. There are signs of old woodworm throughout. There are very fine hairline surface cracks coming down from the upper margin, particularly in the upper right corner, but otherwise no major damage is visible. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a very uneven varnish and some areas of restoration scattered throughout. The most concentrated area of which are in the crotch of Lucretia, her stomach and around her breasts. There are small, more minor retouchings in the face of the sitter and others scattered throughout the fabric and background. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in fair condition.
