Condition

Gilding slightly worn, needs a good cleaning. Marks: Mercury apparently unmarked, probably silver-plated bronze, the gilt base marked with 4 unidentified marks: maker BS within a rectangle, a monogram with a coronet within a rectangle, one probably a griffin within an hexagon, the last mark difficult to identify within an oval. This chandelier is probably made of two different pieces, the Mercury probably older (two marks on Mercury foot, 3 identical marks on base neck, which proves that there was previoulsy at least a set of 3, possibly 4 of these chandeliers). Good weight. Unusual piece.
