Catalogue Note

first edition, presentation copy inscribed by greene on front fly-leaf ("For Doris Young | from Graham Greene | in thanks for all your help"). Doris Young was Greene's secretary from the early 1950s until 1958, when she was replaced by Josephine Reid. Young apparently came to Greene from Harry Walston, husband of Greene's lover Catherine. Presentation copies of The Third Man, one of Greene's most celebrated works, are very uncommon.
