Catalogue Note

"'And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God Bless Us Every One.' — Charles Dickens, at Liverpool, Twenty-seventh February 1844."

A Christmas Carol, one of Dickens's most enduring works, was published 19 December 1843. The first printing was sold out by Christmas Eve. Dickens was in Liverpool to give a speech at a soirée at the Liverpool Mechanics' Institute on 26 February 1844.
