Limitation pages printed in red and black, frontispiece portrait of Riley signed by him, numerous facsimiles and illustrations, including original watercolors by Glenn Henshaw, J. Alfred Seaford, H. Rex Cotton, and Mary McAuley, extra-illustrated with an autograph letter signed by Riley, one page, Greenfield, Indiana, 21 August 1893, to "Dear Carey," regarding promotion for the publication of Poems Here at Home. Crushed red morocco, lightly mottled in a "Spanish" style, covers gilt with a fillet and foliate frame with red and blue morocco onlays, front covers with the central gilt initials of the recipient of this set (EHN; see below), spines gilt in six compartments with blue morocco onlays, gilt dentelles, green moirĂ© silk linings, top edges gilt, others uncut and largely unopened; bookplate neatly removed from each volume, spines very slightly, and uniformly, faded.

Catalogue Note

The Elizabeth Marine Riley Edition, number 80 of 140 sets, this set printed and bound for Elizabeth H. Nutt of Cleveland, Ohio, as attested in each volume by the publisher, C. B. Randall. For better or worse, the editor of this set, Edmund Henry Eitel, collected more than 400 poems by Riley that had not previously appeared in book form.
