  • signed on the stone ledge lower right: Miguel Parra pintor de Camara honorario / de S.M. año 1842.

Condition

The painting is beautifully preserved, presenting a bright, crisp image beneath a fresh varnish and is ready to hang in its present state. The canvas appears to be lined and there is a small patch on the reverse attending a restored loss of approx. 1 cm. in the tree trunk upper center. Traces of the stretcher bars at left and right are faintly visible but this does not distract the eye in any way. Inspection under UV reveals retouching to the minor loss mentioned above and another of 0.5 cm. in the background upper left. Offered in a decoratively carved gilt wood frame.
