Condition

This work is in beautiful condition. The work is on an old stretcher. The reverse of the canvas has been treated but is unlined. The painting seems to be clean and lightly varnished. There are small losses in the lower left corner, but the condition is very good overall. Despite the original paint layer reading quite strongly in some areas under ultraviolet light, there do not appear to be any retouches except about one inch from the center of the right edge where a small scratch has been retouched. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.) This painting will be exhibited at Sotheby's in a 16th-Century Italian frame on loan from Diego Salazar Antique Frames. This frame is available for purchase. Please contact the Latin American Art Department for more details.
