An ivory zagar silk wedding dress

Condition

A rare Balenciaga couture ivory slubbed silk gazar bridal gown, Spring-Summer 1968, black on white Paris label, numbered 105560, the short sleeves cut in one piece with the yoke, the front panel formed from joined triangles of gazar - their points converging at the centre front neck opening, the back panel cut in one piece with curved hem, producing a conical line, bust 97cm, 38in Faint stains/bleach marks to the upper left and right bodice sides of bodice where a cleaning fluid has been used to improve stains. Orange droplet stain to front hem.

Catalogue Note

This wedding dress is from the last collection of Cristobal Balenciaga before he closed his Couture house. It was worn witch matching gloves of leather and silk jersey.
