Condition

This work is in overall very good condition. Executed on Gillot paper (a special commercially prepared coated paper with a very fine pattern of black horizontal stripes and ridges), the paper itself is quite glossy and has the appearance of a silk-like fabric. The sheet is t-hinged to the mat at two places along the top edge of its verso. There are 2 artist's pinholes at each of the upper corners and 3 pinholes along at each of the lower corners. The medium is strong and well-preserved and the blue highlighting remains vibrant. There is a stain, about 1 inch think extended along the extreme left edge of the sheet from the bottom edge, about 8 inches up; not visible when framed. There is some additional faint staining along the edge of the image and a few darkened pindot spots scattered throughout. The surface maybe have been slightly flattened in the lower register but otherwise fine.
