The movement is running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Second black and diamond set dial in excellent condition. Movement in excellent condition. Perpetual calendar, chronograph and moon phases working properly. Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin. Together with an additional black diamond set dial, a solid case back, a setting pin, a leather bi-fold, and a presentation box with outer packaging.

Launched in 1986, Ref. 3970 redefined the perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch for the next generation. Replacing the highly coveted Ref. 2499, it boasted a new Lemania based ébauche movement. Ref. 3970 was discontinued in 2004 and replaced by the Ref. 5970.

The present example is from the third series, fitted with a sapphire crystal display back as well as an additional solid screw back. The rarity of this Ref. 3970 is further enhanced by its excellent condition and present accompaniments.
