  • American black walnut

Provenance

Condition

Overall in good original condition, with the exception of some slight sun fading to the top of the desk and case unit. The top surface of the sideboard with minor surface abrasions. With a single drawer to the underside of the desk. To the right side of the drawer, on the desk top there is a small, approximately 1 1/2in long age separation crack - however this appears to be stable and in our opinion does not adversely affect the overall appearance of the top. The L-shaped desk is fitted and held in place with hardware and therefore the placement and angle cannot be varied. The case portion of the desk fitted with open shelves and four drawers - one drawer has a small chip/loss to the top right corner of the second drawer up from the bottom. The interior of the drawers with minor surface dirt from use. The desk with a nice size and shape for use. The top of the Frenchman's cove portion of the desk with wonderful figuring and nice freeform edge. The back of the case element not finished and appears to have been designed for use against the wall. Overall in our opinion the desk presents well and retains a firm structure.
