the ewer with ovoid body rising from a short spreading foot to a narrow cylindrical neck, carved with a broad peony band at the shoulder divided by a strap handle on one side and a short curved spout on the other, the cylindrical cover surmounted by a seated lion finial, the basin with deep rounded sides carved with a continuous leafy peony band, all covered in a pale blue crackled glaze

Condition

The cover has two circa 3cm., hairline body cracks, a circa 4mm., wide chip to the edge and restoration to the ear, nose and eye area of the lion finial; the ewer has a circa 3mm., long flake to the tip of the spout, probable restoration to the base of the spout; the basin has a circa 3cm., T-shaped hairline crack to the high foot and restoration to a circa 6cm., hairline crack running up the edge of one lobe.
