  • 8.5cm., 3 1/4 in. high
fitted with male and female portrait medallions enclosed by engraved hatched arabesques, embossed with lobes above leaf chased foot





Condition

Small split to rim and a few little dents, gilding somewhat worn but plenty left, possibly been lacquered, good clear marks

Catalogue Note

An identical beaker, probably the example here, is illustrated by Karin Tebbe et al. Nürnberger Goldschmiedekunst 1541-1868, Germanischen Nationalmuseums, Nuremberg, 2007, no. 844 [1], where the cataloguers record that the profile medallions are after specifically referenced engravings by Virgil Solis (1514-1562)
