Jack Shainman Gallery, New York Acquired from the above by the present owner in April 2010
London, Serpentine Gallery, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye: Verses After Dusk, June - September 2015
"I’m far more interested in how we can make people intelligible through paint, rather than getting bogged down in characters. I want the work to be pulled out of the air somehow, to play God and exploit that power of creation in paint." Lynette Yiadom-Boakye
This work is in very good conditions overall. There is some very light wear along the edges and at the corners of the canvas. There is evidence of faint hairline surface irregularities in the pigment to the right of the top figure’s face, which is likely due to the artist’s working method. Under close inspection there are some very faint, scattered pinpoint accretions in the lower left quadrant of the canvas, below the left figure. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned surface accretions fluoresce faintly but are not the result of restoration. Under Ultraviolet light restoration there is no evidence of restoration. Framed.
