Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There are several pinpoint media accretions scattered throughout the white outer border likely inherent to the artist’s working method and from the time of execution. Under very close inspection, several pinpoint spot accretions are visible, most notably in the black square and a ½-inch linear accretion on the upper, inner edge of the inner gray square just left of center. Under extremely close inspection and under raking light, there is very fine vertical and horizontal hairline craquelure visible on the outer gray squares and at the upper third of the composition. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"Instead of art I have taught philosophy. Though technique for me is a big word, I never have taught how to paint. All my doing was to make people to see."
