Condition
Overall in fine restored condition. With a glass top. Scattered chips and losses to marquetry, specifically to the edges of the top. Some areas of lifting to the top and sides. Extensive restoration to inlaid decoration. Many of the earlier losses to tortoiseshell have patches or red inpainting especially to the stretchers and legs which are almost entirely painted. The drawers also have significant painted elements. The painted areas to the right side of the desk are lighter in color than the rest. Boards beneath the flanking tiers of drawers replaced, and the stretcher restored and feet replaced, probably in the 19th century.
