"First edition, and the first comprehensive description of this area. Spratt and Forbes explored this part of Asia Minor when their ship the 'Beacon' called in to remove the antiquities discovered by Charles Fellows. Spratt was a hydrographer and surveyor, and an amateur archaeologist" (Atabey).
