Description

  • Zitan, ivory, mother-of-pearl, hardstone
de forme rectangulaire, incrustée de nacre, lapis lazuli, malachite, pierres dures et ivoire teinté, représentant deux personnages dans un paysage peuplé de pins, de rochers et de nuages, les côtés décorés de rameaux fleuris et de papillons, les bords incrustés d'argent à motifs de frises de leiwen (2)

Condition

There are overall losses to the inlays on both cover and box, some later replaced inlays. Some of the ivory inlays may have been replaced by bone inlays. There is a ca. 8 cm long crack extending from the upper left hand corner into the top of the cover, and another 8 cm crack to one side. One side panel of the box may have been reinforced with glue, with a slight gap where the sides join the side panels. There is a ca. 14cm long crack to the base of the box and light overall wear to the surface of the sides.
