Description

  • gilt-lacquered wood
assis en lalitasana sur le dos d'un lion reposant sur un socle lotiforme, la main gauche tenant une mangouste, l'expression sévère aux sourcils froncés, vêtu d'une cotte de maille et d'un long ruban virevoltant autour de ses bras

Condition

There are several cracks to the base of the figure, Two of them extending from the rim upwards and partially across the flat part of the base (two to the front visible in the catalogue illustration). There are overall losses to the lacquer gilding of the figure. There are losses to elements of the figure: the top of the hairdo, the crown, the tip of the tail of the creature. There are breaks and small losses to the ribbon around the head of the figure and to the end of the ribbon behind the head of the lion. The ribbon/shawl on the figure's left side has come off but is there. The base is opened and the triangular piece of wood to the centre missing and exposing the inside of the figure. The figure is quite heavy and could do with cleaning.
