Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the image does not accurately convey the rich texture of the work. The work is executed on its original canvas and is not relined. The tip of the upper right corner and the right edge by the top present minor wears. Upon very close inspection, some hairline, stabilized cracks are visible on the black paint. Under Ultra Violet light inspection, few tiny dots of restoration fluoresce along the upper and lower edges. This work is in very good condition.

Catalogue Note

"In my paintings, the light reflected by the paint is more important than the colour. Even if black has always been endowed with magical powers. Otherrwise, how can we explain that the cavemen of Lascaux painted with black in the darkest places when they only needed to crouch down to pick up some chalk."
