Condition

The bronze lamps are sound and mounted on wooden bases. Both lamps are wired with European electric plugs and contain light-bulb fixtures affixed with glue. The bases are mismatched and there is some wear to the paintwork. There is some wear to the surface patina of the petals consistent with use and handling over time, including scattered small nicks and spots of oxidisation. The gold-leaf is well-preserved with some small losses to the edge of the petals in places. They are in good overall condition.

Catalogue Note

In 1965, Fausto Bonvicini travelled to Paris from his foundry in Verona at Dalí's bequest to make a plaster moulding of the artist's arms and hands; one with a finger provocatively positioned over an element representing the female sex. The moulds were subsequently cast in bronze and assembled according to Dalí's incomparable imagination to form the present model.
