Condition

The canvas has been strip-lined along the upper edge only. There is a pattern of craquelure throughout, including two stretcher marks visible corresponding to the lower and upper stretcher bars. Ultra-violet light reveals one spot of restoration (with a circa 3 by 5cm patch on the reverse) in the blue door in the upper right quadrant of the composition, and some other small scattered spots notably in the figure's trousers and in the lower half of the composition. The painting is otherwise in good condition and could benefit from cleaning and from relining to reduce the appearance of the craquelure. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
