Condition

Overall the condition of the terracotta is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is a slip to the surface which may conceal some condition points. There is particular dirt in the crevices, and at Venus' abdomen. There are a few light scratches, notably to Venus' body, which are probably original tool marks. There are a few minor chips, including to the scroll, to Cupid's proper right big toe, and to the bottom edge. There are a few original hairline fissures, including to Venus' proper right wrist. There are some spots of whitish residue, in particular to the terrasse.
