Condition

One with drill hole to underside of one arm. Ormolu with some rubbing, light oxidation, minor scratches, and surface dirt. Rubbing mostly to shaft. Some areas of verdigris.

Catalogue Note

The originality of the design of the present pair of candelabra would suggest the work of one of the leading Parisian bronziers of the day. A more simplified example of this model with a similar baluster-shaped center above a slightly flared pedestal all over four foliate-cast paw feet by Thomire was sold Christie's London, June 10, 1993, lot 71.
