  • With frame 17 1/4 in. by 15 3/4 in.
Depicting Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac with the phrase Immortal made what should we mind/ so much as immorality/ of beings for a heaven designed/what but a Heaven the cave should be, and from the seraphim's mouth is inscribed Hold thy hand, worked in tent, cross, long and short and other stitches, in a later ebonized and parcel-gilt frame.

Condition

Please note that this needlework has not been examined out of frame. Edges of sampler are stained and darkened with some losses and fraying. Linen ground with a few losses and holes, largest being a 1/2 inch hole to the bottom center of border. Some spot stains and typical discoloration. This needlework underwent conservation in 2003.
