Catalogue Note

Probably inspired by the Meissen model, figures of squirrels were a popular animal subject, produced in both porcelain and earthenware by potters in 18th century England. A similar pair of squirrels is illustrated in Leslie B. Grigsby, English Pottery 1650-1800, the Henry H. Weldon Collection, p. 369, no. 222.
