le fût formé de caryatides couronné d'un anneau octogonal orné de rosaces et masques et soutenant un bouquet de quatre bras de lumière ornés de têtes d'égyptiennes et sommé d'une cassolette, terminé par un socle circulaire ciselé de feuilles d'acanthe et de godrons ; (percés pour l'électricité)

Illustration is quite accurate. As said, the candelabra have been pierced for electricity. A few stains and spots of oxidation in places. A little loose to some bronze elements. On one candelabra, two cushions above the Egyptian heads are missing, as well as tiny chains (not distracting). Highly decorative candelabra in good overall condition. “Please note that this condition report was made on August 31th 2016 inside Robert de Balkany's hôtel rue de Varenne; this lot will be shipped to Sotheby's galleries before the exhibit and the sale.”

Le modèle du fût de ces candélabres apparaît sur un dessin aquarellé de Dugourc, daté de 1790, où il est également indiqué que Gouthière les a réalisés (reproduit dans H. Ottomeyer, P. Proschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, p. 286-287, fig. 4.15.3 et fig. 4.15.6). Une paire de candélabres similaire est illustrée dans le même ouvrage (p. 258, fig. 4.7.10).
