Description

  • Ruth Orkin
  • 'Tirza Castelbolognesi, 3½'
  • 6 gelatin silver prints
a sequence of 6 photographs, each signed, titled, dated, numbered sequentially, and annotated in pencil on the reverse, framed together, 1951, printed in the late 1960s or early 1970s (A Photo Journal, p. 88)

Condition

This very attractive sequence of prints, with a range of gray tones, are on double-weight paper with a surface sheen. Each is trimmed to the image with the exception of print #4 which has a thin lower margin. They are generally in excellent condition. The left edges of prints #1 and #6 are slightly rubbed. There is occasional soiling on the reverse of some of the prints. Print #1 is annotated in pencil as follows: '1,' 'Kibbutznick at Givat Brenner, Israel, 1951,' and 'Tirza Castelbolognesi, 3 1/2... whose grandfather had been the Chief Rabbi of Milan.' Each of the subsequent prints are annotated with some variant of the above.
