Description

  • Annie Leibovitz
  • John Lennon and Yoko Ono, The Dakota, New York
  • chromogenic print
chromogenic print, signed and editioned '11/20' in ink in the margin, 1980 (Leibovitz, cover and p. 115)

Condition

This chromogenic print, on medium-weight paper, is in generally good condition. In raking light, there are a few scattered faint scuffs and abrasions, including a minute loss of emulsion at the upper left corner in Ono's hair. There are multiple breaks in the emulsion, although these are primarily restricted to the margins and are most noticeable at the upper left and lower left edges. In the lower left margin there is an area of craquelure, which corresponds to a crescent-shaped handling crease on the reverse. While primarily affecting the margin, this disruption does infringe upon the image slightly. The emulsion is peeling at the margin edges and there is yellowing along the extreme edges. On the reverse, there are hinge remnants in the upper corners and scattered soiling.
