Provenance

Condition

The panel is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is only slightly discoloured. There is a fine network of craquelure which runs throughout the paint surface. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky, rather uneven varnish, some minor retouching to the man's chest and hat, and some retouching around the edge of the oval. In overall good condition.
