Condition

The following condition report is provided by Hamish Dewar who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby's: The panel is uncradled. The paint surface is fragile with lifting areas of craquleure and a relatively large paint loss in the red hat on the right of the composition. There are other tiny paint losses. The paint surface appears to be unvarnished and is uneven. Inspection under ultra-violet light shows a few very small retouchings. Overall the painting appears to be in quite good and original condition noting the areas of fragile paint mentioned above. The painting is framed.
