Description

  • Emerald, diamonds, gold, silver, silver-gilt
Set with a cabochon emerald within a frame of cushion-shaped and circular-cut diamonds, highlighted with fleur de lys motifs set with single-cut and rose diamonds, one small diamond deficient.

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 88019, stating that the cabochon emerald weighing approximately 45 carats and measuring approximately 21.65 x 21.75 x 15.40mm, is of Colombian origin, with a minor amount of oil in fissures, together with an appendix letter. Emerald green of medium strong saturation, with good transparency, typical inclusions, some surface reaching, minor abrasions, scratches and nicks; for further details on the emerald, please refer to the SSEF report and appendix letter. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 8.00 - 10.00 carats, on average H-K colour, SI-I clarity, as gauged and graded in the mounting. Signs of normal wear to the metal, evidence of repairs and solderings. In very good condition. Gross weight approximately 24 grams.

"The small inclusions found by microscopic examination represent the hallmarks of Colombian emeralds from the famous mining areas Muzo, Coscuez, and Chivor, all located in the green foothills of the Cordillera Oriental in the Colombian Andes. Its attractive green colour is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the stone, typical and characteristic for the finest emeralds of Colombia...

An emerald of this size containing only a minor amount of oil in fissures can be considered rare. A natural emerald from Colombia of this size and quality is rare and exceptional".
