Julien Levy, Bridgewater, Connecticut A gift from the above in June 1975
Robert Descharnes, Salvador Dalí: The Work, The Man, New York,1984, illustration of another example p. 176
This exhibition catalogue was produced in a limited edition on the occasion of the 1936 exhibition Dalí at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York. Each of the wallets on the front of the catalogue is in the form of a woman's breast and contains two fold-out pages with twelve reproductions of Dalí's work.
This work is in generally good condition given age and handling. There are small losses to the extreme upper corners, creases at center of top edge and in two places on left edge, and small surface scuffs throughout. The flaps display handling wear and the brass snaps have been torn from the backing sheet. Otherwise fine. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
