Description

  • Jade
of flattened baluster form raised on a stepped foot, the waisted neck and rim carved with ruyi handles suspending loose rings, each face carved in shallow relief in Mughal style with stylised lotus, below a band of descending leaves at the neck, with thin bands of key-fret at the rim and foot, the domed cover similarly carved and with a rounded rectangular finial carved with foliate lappet panels, the stone of a dark spinach-green tone, with numerous lighter inclusions

Condition

One ring handle has been repaired to one side, and there is evidence of restoration around the break. The knop on the cover has a repaired break and there are various minor nicks to the internal rim of the vase and to the cover.
