Description

  • 86cm. high, 127.5cm. wide, 60cm. deep; 2ft. 10in., 4ft. 2in., 2ft.
with a figured grey marble top above three short drawers and two graduated long drawers between fluted pilasters, on turned legs

Condition

The commode is in good conserved condition, with minor marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. There is one chip to frieze between the upper three short drawers, and another one, scarcely noticeable, to border below the central upper drawer. A repair to left-hand side fluted pilaster.There are very minor losses to veneer, namely to upper border of bottom drawer, The sides present age-related shrinkage, with one crack to right-hand side veneer. Feet mounts slightly loose. One wood board to back loose. There are old signs of woodworm which appears to be no longer active. Overall an attractive piece ready to be placed. The top indistinctly stamped V S T twice.
