Condition

The vase with a couple of air bubbles within the foot, and some very small air bubbles within the walls of the vase itself. The largest of these is approximately 3 mm wide. These are a result of the manufacturing process. Light scratching to the interior consistent with age and a number of dark inclusions also consistent with manufacturing process. A technically demanding and modern piece.

Catalogue Note

This vase is one of a small series of artworks inspired by the vase commissioned by the company Solvay & Cie for the 30-year anniversary of its Dombasle soda manufactory. The vase is retained in the Musée de l’Ecole de Nancy. The marble aspect and the verre églomisé prunts evoke the soda extraction and treatment process. Some vases with different forms inspired by this technique, including the offered lot, were created between 1903 and 1904.
