Catalogue Note

Franz West was an Austrian artist born in 1947 and who died in 2012. His furniture, such as assemblages, Passtücke (Adaptives), invite us to experience his sculptures through our body. Body awareness and consciousness were the main concern of the artist. Franz West enjoyed blurring the boundaries between art and utilitarian objects. He described his chairs as 'adapters between art and life'.
