Description

  • wool, flatweave, tapestry technique
  • approximately 183 by 174cm; 6ft., 5ft. 8in.
with a central pale blue and ivory medallion, on an aubergine field and a scroll of foliate border within guard stripes

Condition

Overall measurements: 183cm across the top, 182cm across the bottom, 174cm along left and right sides Multidirectional orientation. Not lined. Faded colours overall. Both ends with warps tucked under and held in place with ribbon, which is loose in the corners and the warps are visible and need re-tucking under in the top right corner. There are some small repairs. There is a split between outer border and inner blue of main field, half way up the left side (which can easily be repaired). There is a small hole on the edge of the central blue motif, which needs some attention. Some surface marks. Decorative panel, of good size, with balanced colour and composition.
