Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is very light evidence of handling along the edges. The canvas is slightly loose on its stretcher. Under very close inspection, very fine hairline craquelure is visible in the dark green paint in the lower right quadrant with a few pinpoint and minor spots of loss and in the yellow paint in the central right quadrant, all of which appears stable. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"In the 1980s, when I decided to begin to paint in oil on canvas in the great European tradition — a decisive turning point for me — there was an openness and an incertitude to the work. Each painting was different, and that is what I wanted." Per Kirkeby
