Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The edges of the canvas are taped. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges including some minor hairline craquelure along the bottom edge, some pinpoint spots of loss in all corners particularly at the lower left corner and a few pinpoint spots of loss along the bottom edge. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. Under very close inspection there is a pinpoint indentation to the canvas in the center approximately 12-inches from the bottom edge. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Unframed.

Catalogue Note

"My net paintings were very large canvases without composition—without beginning, end or center. The entire canvas would be occupied by a monochromatic net. This endless repetition causes a kind of dizzying, empty, hypnotic feeling."
