Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The outdoor sculpture exhibits sign of wear and minor soiling as a result of being placed outside. The patina is characteristic of oxidized steel and is characteristic of the artist’s intention and the stainless steel component exhibits some discoloration, light abrasions and dirt accretions, as to be expected from a work placed outdoors. A few scattered accretions are visible throughout, most notably two minor white ones on the sculpture’s legs.

Catalogue Note

"You see that there is a real relationship between poetry and what I am trying for. And I think that people who want to do manufactured art…let's put it in terms of smell, they have the same kind of smell whenever you get into a new car. You know a new car smells a special way but it doesn't smell like that after you've lived in it for 10 years or so. Then it's part of you, of your clothes, and I think that works [where] there isn't the hands-on, there isn't that kind of thinking, leave me really much more blank."
