Catalogue Note
The crest is that of Hamilton under a Duke's coronet, probably for Alexander, 10th Duke of Hamilton, and 7th Duke of Brandon, K.G., F.R.S., F.S.A., who married in 1810 Susan Euphemia, 2nd daughter and co-heir of William Beckford of Fonthill Abbey.
