Catalogue Note

Amice Hotton (1810-1898) was a Jersey cabinetmaker established at 18 Hill Street, St Helier. The crest and motto on the games table refer to the Le Couteur family. Sir John Le Couteur (1794-1875) was the Viscount of Jersey after a military career. His family dates back to 1331 in Jersey records. He could have been the one to commission this table from Amice Hotton.
