The canvas is original and sound. There are artist's pinholes to all four corners. There are two or three areas of loss to the sky in the extreme upper right corner and one or two areas of possible loss along the lower part of the extreme left vertical edge. There are isolated lines and areas of craquelure and reticulation, with one or two areas that are lifting, and a resultant loss to the green pigment in the centre of the composition. Subject to the above the work is in good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a few small spots of fluorescence in the upper left corner, possibly retouching, and in the upper right filling the above mentioned losses.
