The board appears sound. There are very fine lines of cracking in line with the grain of the board throughout and there is a very small area of reticulation to the brown pigment at the centre of the extreme left edge. There are a few scattered spots of surface dirt and studio matter. Subject to the above, the works appears to be in very good overall condition. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals a layer of milky and uneven varnish, and also a few scattered areas of fluorescence and probable retouching in the lower left quadrant, together with further areas of fluorescence to the composition which appear inkeeping with the nature of the artist's techniques.
