Condition

Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There are a few fine lines of scattered craquelure in places across the work. There is frame abrasion to the extreme edges, with a few resultant tiny losses. The surface is slightly dirty with a few flecks of staining, and might benefit from a light clean. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some re-tuching to an area above the left figure, to the right figure's raised hand, and to a spot at the centre of the upper edge, with further scattered flecks and spots across the work. The work is presented in a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
